LEED Platinum

The Big Picture

The CSU-Pueblo Academic Resource Center, a LEED Platinum Building, consisted of the major renovation to an existing pre-cast twin tee structure in the heart of CSU-Pueblo campus.  Upgrades to the mechanical system included a sophisticated “chilled pipe system” which had never been done in the state of Colorado.  The renovation improved the building’s acoustics, exterior aesthetics, day lighting and the overall MEP systems.  Being the only resource center on the campus, the challenges included keeping portions of the building open where students could gain access to find research materials.  Heavy coordination with the campus staff and multiple phasing of construction was key to making this project a success.

H.W. Houston Construction performed this project as a GC with a firm fixed price arrangement.

We have completed numerous projects on the CSU-Pueblo campus including the CSU Academic Resource Center,  the CSU – HPER Building, the Hasan School of Business and the Chemistry Building.

Ingenuity in Action

The project schedule was fast tracked to ensure that the campus library remained operational at all times.  Close communication and coordination was established early on to ensure that the safety of all students was maintained as well as protection of the library’s books and other resources.
